Ten Years of Service

A Decade of Ministry — 2016–2026

From his ordination on May 14, 2016, Deacon Sunny entered a decade of ordained ministry rooted in faith, service, and the proclamation of the Gospel.

At St. Francis of Assisi Parish and within the wider Catholic community, his diaconal ministry has included service at the altar, preaching the Word, assisting in the sacramental life of the Church, and serving communities of faith both within and beyond the parish.

Centered on the Eucharist

Throughout his years of diaconal service, Deacon Sunny’s ministry has remained deeply rooted in the Eucharist—the source and summit of Catholic life.

His service has extended beyond the sanctuary into the wider faith community, including Eucharistic devotion, procession, prayer, praise and worship, reflecting a ministry centered on bringing Christ to His people.

Faith, Culture and Community

Deacon Sunny’s ministry has also found expression within the Nigerian Igbo Catholic community, where faith, culture and fellowship come together in the life of the Church.

Through worship, community celebrations and shared expressions of Catholic faith, he has served alongside clergy and lay faithful, helping strengthen a community united by its devotion to God and its rich spiritual heritage.

Called to Build and Serve

Beyond his parish ministry, Deacon Sunny helped organize and launch the Bay Area African Eucharistic Adoration, Praise and Worship Ministry, creating another avenue for Catholics to gather in prayer, Eucharistic devotion, praise, and worship.

This ministry reflects a dimension of his diaconal service that reaches beyond the parish—bringing people together in faith and encouraging a deeper encounter with Christ through prayer and the Eucharist.

Angels Children Home — Enugu, Nigeria

Extending the Ministry of Service

Deacon Sunny’s commitment to service has also reached beyond his local community. Through Deacon Sunny’s Ministry Fund, he has extended support to Angels Children Home in Akpuoga Nike, Emene, Enugu, Nigeria.

As he celebrates ten years of ordained ministry, the children and caregivers of Angels Children Home share this special message of gratitude, celebration, and prayer.

Proclaiming the Faith Through Music

Deacon Sunny’s ministry has also found expression through sacred music. In collaboration with Rev. Fr. Batho Ezeokafor and Dr. Sir Jude Nnam, he has contributed to the release of five liturgical songs—extending the message of faith beyond the spoken word through music.

A Ministry Recognized in Service

The Journey Continues

Ten years after his ordination, Deacon Sunny’s ministry continues to reflect the calling at the heart of the diaconate — a life of faith expressed through service.

From the altar to the community, through prayer, proclamation, music and spiritual leadership, the journey continues with the same commitment that brought him to ordination: to serve God by serving His people.
