About the Book 

From rural Nigeria to the United States, The Power of God’s Grace traces a life shaped by faith, perseverance, and unexpected turns in God's plan.

Deacon Sunny's journey began with a Catholic upbringing that awakened an early desire for the priesthood and led to nine years of seminary formation in Nigeria. When circumstances brought that path to an end, he came to the United States and rebuilt his life through education and a distinguished professional career.

Yet the desire to serve God never disappeared. Through years of involvement in Catholic communities, devotion to the Eucharist, and the steadfast support of his wife, Sabina, and their family, a different expression of that calling gradually emerged.

On May 14, 2016, the journey came full circle when he was ordained a permanent deacon at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Joseph in San Jose, California.

The Power of God’s Grace is a memoir of vocation, migration, family, resilience, and the quiet workings of divine providence—a testimony to how God's purpose can continue to unfold even when life's path takes an unexpected turn.

A Memoir Launched at a Milestone 

The release of The Power of God’s Grace marks a special moment in Deacon Sunny’s journey, coinciding with the celebration of his 10th Anniversary of Diaconate Ordination.

Ten years after answering the call to ordained ministry, this memoir looks beyond the anniversary itself to the longer journey that made it possible — the faith, family, challenges, unexpected turns, and enduring grace that shaped his path to the diaconate.

Launched on October 3, 2026, as family, friends, clergy, and community gather to celebrate a decade of diaconal service, The Power of God’s Grace offers that story in Deacon Sunny’s own words.
